Pros & Cons

Some Pros of my trip to this hotel were; employees willingness to answer questions, large rooms, king sized beds, great A/C, beautiful views, nice pools, and a decent sized buffet. Some Cons of my trip to this hotel were; half cleaned bathrooms (found hair on stink from previous guests & shower curtains had mold), door handle to sliding door had fallen off as soon as we touched it, room temperature food (few people on our trip had stomach aches shortly after)

Our room was dirty, it was right above the kitchen and smelled bad. We asked for a different room but that room was dirty too. The food was not good at all. The staff was okay though. Would not recommend.

I am a travel agent and I booked this hptel for my clients and I truly regret it. The hotel is abut an hour away from PUJ airport. The hotel does not provide trasportation and I was told that no one at the resort spoke english. My clients were out there to celebrate birthday. They could not even go on any excursions because they all were 1-2 hours away. The hotel was not updated and the are around the hotel was a local city that did not seem safe. My customers were so upset that they could not talk to anyway abut their problems. They ended up canceling their stay after the 1st day and transferring to a different all inclusive resort in a better location. i have now been trying to call the resort for the last 5 days to speak to someone about a refund. We are from Philly and this hotel is similar to a weekend trip in Atlantic City New Jersey. Not made for an island vacation in the carribean.

My check in was supposed to be at 3, I did not receive my room until 5pm. They had me sit in the lobby and wait. The food was disgusting, and the person who Carries the luggage was basically begging for tip. Typically tips are given at the end of each stay not every time they do something for you. The snack bar personal was very rude and I quote “ help the Gringos, she is Dominican she can wait” yes I am Dominican/American but I think we all deserve equal treatment. Bathroom shower was broken, water ran everywhere. Place looked like a studio apartment, trash from previous people where in the cabinets. Stove tops and counter was dusty. My allergies kicked in as soon as I stepped in the room. Cleaning crew is rude and act like they can’t talk. Just plain out ignore you. Only 2 towels per room and you have to leave a deposit for the beach towels. I ended up checking out before check out time. Would only recommend If you really need to make a stop.

Lo peor que pudo venderme expedía, es el peor Risort que he ido, la comida de una semana la misma, horrible de mala calentada, en la habitación no hay nada ni papel de toilet, tenía que ir a buscar, en la noche me voy acostar y no hay sabanas, que horrible ese whala no se lo recomiendo a nadie.

Excellent service, the food was good for the money, the room was very good, and clean every day, the views at the pool was out of this world, never enjoyed a view so much, the price was excellent, my wife and I will definitely return to this hotel, but next time, we’ll reserve a ocean front so we can enjoy the best ocean view of bayahibe!

Let me start this with the phrase I kept repeating to myself throughout the trip. “You get what you pay for.” Whala is very reasonably priced and it comes with its defects. We stayed 7 days, family of 4 with two kids under 2. Room is nicely sized, beds are king sized, little kitchen, sink and gas stove (never used) mini fridge. The bathroom was dirty, it was just stained, plastic curtain rod kept falling, curtain was moldy and broken at the bottom, mirror was dirty as if no one cleaned. I disinfected everything and kindly asked if they can just take a look and re clean and they did the best they could. We then went on 3 days with no one cleaning the room, despite the sign and constant requests. Our trash was full of diapers, I asked for trash bags at least, our toilet paper ran out, thankful we had baby wipes, they never had towels, we only got 2 on day 1 and another fresh 2 on day 4, but no more. I felt bad of course, I feel that we are better off buying toilet paper elsewhere and bringing our own towels and trash bags. We rented the beach towels and again they never had clean ones. They have one buffet, and they try their best, they change dinner theme at night, the food is ok, it’s a good thing we are not picky eaters. The one a la carte restaurant included is always fully reserved, and it’s also nothing to get your hopes up about. The snack bar was good when they opened on time and didn’t run out of French fries. The bar always had beer but ran out of everything else.

It's a clean, confortable and cheap hotel, with good food, drinks and friendly staff. If you are looking for fun or recreational activities this is not your hotel, no beach, no kid playgrounds, no sport bar, no entertainment activities (just a limited night show 1h), no disco, nothing, just your room, a pharmacy, food, drinks, a small and limited restaurant (always full), pools and a limited snack with burgers, pizza and hotdogs. It's a relaxing hotel to rest, eat and enjoy nice pools and small distances to reach everything. Since is a cheap hotel, you will encounter some Low class and uneducated people, but you can still enjoy the hotel for sure, since the staff is very attentive and responsible. I really did an honest review, to avoid any surprises to the visiting tourists, anyway I enjoyed the hotel, ate well, slept well, enjoyed the pool and the kind attention of the staff.
