Excellent location, right on an exceptional beach and 10 minutes walk to Manual Antonio park and nearby restaurants. Very nice studio, clean & well equipped. Nice attractive exterieur areas. We loved our stay and wished we'd booked longer

Best thing about it is the location

Verde Mar was totally fine but the best thing about it is the location (right on the beach, unlike most hotels in Manuel Antonio). The facilities themselves aren’t that great. Staff was friendly and helpful. We recommend not staying in one of the new “villa” rooms. These are 4 new rooms they built in a separate building with 0 charm or fresh air. The regular rooms have a door within chairs outside and a view of the pool, the villas are just depressing white boxes off a boring white corridor connected to the nearest restaurant. We asked to change rooms and we’re glad we did. Next time we’ll stay somewhere else a little further from the beach.

Good hotel

Check in was good. Our room was "the loft", which is above the check in desk - very noisy - glass windows are thin and you can hear EVERYTHING. One window has no blinds, so I realized people at the cafe could have seen into our room. Metal roof is directly on top of the room with no insulation. Makes for a very noisy alarm clock when the monkeys are pounding on the roof (although it was funny the first morning after it scared us to death). Very small circular staircase makes it very difficult to carry luggage up (one at a time with difficulty). Our room has a full kitchen, which was great. Hot water in the shower is a plus. Location is great. Right on the beach and a 5 minute walk to Manuel Antonio Nat'l Park and all the restaurants and shops (which is why I booked here). Price is affordable, especially because of the beach access. Beach is great.

Nice Hotel right on the beach

Location, location and location. It's right on the beach with a swimming pool. You will have a daily vistits from both capuchin and squirrel monkeys plus a friendly iguana or two. The pool area could use a good scrubbing. Great restaurant for breakfast or sunset drinks.

Great location even better staff

The only thing better than the location was the service So accommodating to anything we needed. They gave us helpful information for visiting Manuel Antonio park. The hotel is right off the beach and walkable to Manuel Antonio park. Secure parking and they let us stay there the full day of our checkout to enjoy the beach Good pool and restaurant on site Thanks again

Downright avoid

It just can’t get less “Pura Vida” than this property and management. Great location, steps from the beach, but that’s the end of your idilic beachfront l in M. Antonio…Property rather ran down, hotel cleanliness leaves much to be desired. The sheets of my room were dirty, bathroom door glued so I had to use the toilets by reception and skip shower, etc…. Management was unpleasant and unwilling to handle the situation, offer some solution or refund..they simply took my money and greeted me goodbye… know where you are getting into…

Great location with nature at your door

The hotel staff and location are amazing. We got a free upgrade to a larger room with 2 queen size beds. One of the beds was not as comfortable but luckily we got to choose between the 2 beds and picked the better one. The room and the bathroom were clean, a little run down but for the price we didn’t expect a 5 star hotel. The restaurant was delicious and offered a discount if you did take away. The only issue we had was the crazy monkeys running on top of the sheet metal roof which woke us up everyday at 6am. If you want nature and monkeys this is the place to go. I would recommend a room on the ground floor since the monkeys can be very loud as they fight on the roof. Overall it was a great experience and close to everything we needed as well there is a bus that comes by every 20 mins that can take you up the hill to some really good restaurants and great views. It was only a 10 min walk to the national park and 5 min walk to a grocery store and restaurants on the beach.
