Very nice hotel.

Very nice hotel. The only shortcoming is that the hot spring is rather small. However, as the hotel is relatively small, overall its still ok.

Great hotel for R&R....and great chef!

Great hotel for R&R. Great location. Spa type room (modern, not Japanese style) with bath tub overlooking the gorge is magnificent and huge by any Japanese standard. Dinner and breakfast is great. Kudos to the chef. Some simple side piece in the dish like stir fried broccoli, not sure what the chef put in there, but it has depth in flavor (umami) but it shows that they really put in their heart in making the dish. Indoor onsen was outdated but will do. Outdoor onsen was a bit small but has a great view (visible from other hotel in winter coz all the leaves that suppose to block the view had already gone so guests in opposite hotel can see u when u walk around naked before u get in the pool...but here...no one cares) Most hotel staff can speak very little English. Communication is a bit on a tough side. A little note on one particular male, middle age, frontdesk staff with eye glasses. When I asked him some info about walking around for sightseeing in Jozankei area, he laugh in a sarcastic way (not usual for Japanese as I'm quite accustomed to Japanese people) and made me felt that it was a silly question. But after watching him served other guests, he always did that as well. So may be it's just his old habit. All female staffs are very polite and helpful, especially at dinner, the female waitress and the male maître d was superb. All and all, I'll definitely visit again in Autumn as I'm sure the view will be great.

Disappointed

I used Hotels.com review as reference to book this hotel. It was rated over 4 and I was very disappointed with this hotel. The hotspring area is quite run down. No meals package could be arranged through hotels.com booking. Had to walk to adjacent hotel to have dinner.

Established hotel in a nice setting with good food

Immediately after we get off the bus from Sapporo staff member rushed out from the hotel and helped us move the big luggages from the bus station across the street into the hotel. While I was finishing up the check in procedures they are cleaning the outside and the wheels on my luggage. These are the little details that gave me an first impression that this 4 star hotel really pay attention to little details. Staff member then took my luggages to my room (of course not expecting a tip because this is japan). She gave a brief tour of the room and we were impressed by the scenery outside the window. All the rooms in this hotel are facing the river (the river is not huge and have much bigger water flow a hundred years ago not sure the reason why). The onsen area is clean with a lot of cleanings supplies like facial rubs, shampoo, body soap, etc. The water temperature is around 40-42'c which is on the medium temperature and just right. There is also a outside section which is outdoor and boy it was chill. In room dinner was served right at the prearranged time and brought into the room, served and cleaned up by another staff member. The dinner was excellent but don't expect you will be full like a buffet type. The food portion is just right and it's all about the presentation. Breakfast was served at the cafe on the 6th floor and it is excellent again. Prestation and taste is excellent. Front desk also helped us to book the return bus back to Sapporo. excellent hotel !

Suberb onsen hotel in the mountains

Great stay at a really nice and classy hotel facility. Only slight complaint was that the futon ran a bit short and couldn't cover my legs entirely and I'm only 172cm, maybe there were longer ones but I was too tired to ask.

Nice hotel

Love the Japanese style room. Came with dinner and breakfast next day. Room was clean and good even though little dated but there's a charm in it. Didn't like the smoke lingering behind. Better to ask for a smoke free room. Public bath by sex and was so good. All amenities provided for and no need to bring anything at all except your makeup and a change of clothes literally. The Kappaliner bus from Odori/Sapporo stops opposite the hotel. Very convenient. Great place to relax. There's a free honey buffer from 2pm onwards.

Hotel worth going

Shops location of the hotel , it's very modern from outside . Great architecture considering the reception is at 6 floor and onsen is below . Fantastic view of the river .
