If seeing the sights is on your list of things to do, head to Temple of the Tooth – just one of the landmarks located 0.4 mi (0.6 km) from central Kandy.
If you like quiet time surrounded by flowers and greenery, then make a stop at Wales Park in the heart of Kandy. Want to stretch your legs a little more? Head to Udawatta Kele Sanctuary and Royal Botanical Garden, both nearby.
Kandy is well known for its temples and gardens, while attractions include Kandy Clock Tower and Wales Park. The city has something for everyone including sights like Temple of the Tooth and Bahirawakanda Vihara Buddha within a scenic setting.
As well as all of the fantastic things to do in Kandy - from the sacred temple to the botanical gardens - I would certainly recommend going to the Elephant freedom project. Just over an hour from the hotel (and on the way to Colombo airport

Excellent
Kandy is a really nice town. The Buddhist temple is great to visit as is the Buddah the hill. But the absolute best spot is the botanical garden. Don't miss it!

Excellent
Really nice pit stop. 3 nights it's sufficient to see everything. Also, purchase everything you need while in Kandy!! It's very expensive when heading to nuwara eliya, Ella, Yala, tangalle..n then much more expensive on the beaches in the south.

Kandy is the second largest city in Sri Lanka and on almost every country tour. It is a beautiful city and an easy stopping point whether going on to Dambulla Caves or south towards Nuwara Eliya.

A bustling town with plenty of shops, highlight being the Tooth temple. A good place for stopover when touring Sri Lanka.
"Cassendra staff eere welcoming and helpful - even before I arrived. They helped me find affordable transport for a day trip and when needed were able to serve my dinner extra quickly. Wifi was touch and go but ultimately held for a few video calls. The hotel is a bit old but rooms are spacious and clean with great bathrooms.
The location is know to tuktuk drivers and the mountain offers amazing views. Its also very close to the best Kandyan dancers (5 min walk) and a view point!"
"The Hotel has some out dated fittings and furniture but for the price I paid this place was pretty good . The rooms were very spacious and the staff was very attentive. "
